The African Trade Center (ATC) proudly participated in FESPACO 2019 – the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou, which took place in Burkina Faso. Known as Africa’s largest and most prestigious film and cultural festival, FESPACO serves as a global platform for showcasing African creativity, storytelling, and innovation in the film and media industry.
ATC’s presence at the festival highlighted its commitment to promoting Africa’s creative economy as a powerful driver of trade, investment, and sustainable development. By engaging with filmmakers, producers, investors, and cultural leaders from across the continent and beyond, the African Trade Center demonstrated how the creative industry can open doors to new markets, build cross-border collaborations, and project Africa’s cultural wealth on the world stage.
During the event, the African Trade Center facilitated dialogues on how African cinema can contribute to job creation, youth empowerment, and economic diversification. It also emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships to provide filmmakers with access to funding, training, and international distribution opportunities.
Participation in FESPACO 2019 was more than just an appearance—it was a statement of ATC’s vision to harness the potential of Africa’s cultural and creative industries as a core element of trade and investment. The engagement further reinforced the idea that Africa’s stories, told by Africans, are not only valuable culturally but also economically impactful in shaping global perceptions and partnerships.
